Castillo has been praised by art critics from México and the United States as one of the most important Mexican landscape artists ever. He is the artist of the mural “Tierra Prometida” (10’ by 40’) – a view of the area from Rosarito to Point Loma done in 1992 before urban sprawl took over. You can visit and see it at the Tijuana Cultural Center (CECUT).
Castillo works in all media including oils, acrylics and pastels. Besides landscapes he also enjoys painting abstract art. Over the decades he has had exhibitions in Cabo San Lucas, Palm Springs, La Jolla, and many other California cities.
Celebrities like Frank Sinatra, Red Skeleton, Ringo Star and Russell Crowe are among his collectors.
